Die Stiftung wurde 2013 von Frau Dr. Antje Beyer-Koczorek zur Erinnerung an ihren Mann Herrn Prof. Karl-Heinz René Koczorek gegründet.
Die Stiftung fördert Forschungsvorhaben auf dem Gebiet rheumatologischer, autoimmunologischer und entzündlicher Erkrankungen, (z. B. Rheumatoide Arthritis, Progressive Systemische Sklerose/Sklerodermie, M. Crohn). Insbesondere sollen Grundlagenforschung und klinische Anwendung neuerer oder bisher bei diesen Erkrankungen nicht bekannter Substanzen gefördert werden.
Das Lebenswerk von Prof. KH René Koczorek beinhaltete u.a. die Erforschung der extrarenalen Wirkungen von Aldosteron und Spironolacton, insbesondere bei oben genannten Erkrankungen. Die Stiftung möchte in diesem Sinne innovative Ansätze fördern, die zu einer neuen Behandlung beitragen könnten.

The foundation was founded in 2013 by Dr. Antje Beyer-Koczorek in memory of her husband, Prof. Karl-Heinz René Koczorek.
The Foundation supports research projects in the field of rheumatological, autoimmunological and inflammatory diseases (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, progressive systemic sclerosis / scleroderma, M. Crohn). In particular, basic research and clinical application of newer substances or substances hitherto unknown in these diseases will be promoted.
Prof. KH René Koczorek’s work of a lifetime included, among other subjects, the exploration of the extrarenal effects of Aldosterone and Spironolactone, in particular in the above-mentioned diseases. In this respect, the Foundation would like to promote innovative approaches which could contribute to a new treatment.
